President of Zimbabwe Visits Azerbaijan
Baku / 01/18/19 / Turan: President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa arrived in Azerbaijan on an official visit on 18 January.
At the Baku airport, he was met by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Yagub Eyyubov, and other officials, reports AZERTAG.
The President of Zimbabwe will hold a series of official meetings with the leadership of Azerbaijan, at which issues of bilateral cooperation will be discussed.
Earlier, the presidential administration of Zimbabwe reported that Mnangagwa will visit Azerbaijan as part of a tour of post-Soviet countries.
Mnangagwa came to power in November 2017 as a result of a military coup and the removal of dictator Robert Mugabe as President. In July 2018, Mnangagwa won the presidential election, the results of which were not recognized by the main opposition candidate.
During Mugabe's long dictatorship, Zimbabwe became one of the poorest countries in Africa. -06D-
