Prosecutor requests to convict Generals of the Ministry of National Security (MNS) to 44 years
Baku / 22.02.18 / Turan: The Military Court of Azerbaijan is finishing the case against a group of former high-ranking officers of the abolished Ministry of National Security. At today's meeting, which takes place in the building of the Sabunchu District Court, the prosecutor issued a closing speech. The state prosecutor proposed sentence the former chiefs of the MNS departments, generals: Subakhir Gurbanov and Teymur Guliyev to 16 years imprisonment each. For another ex-head of the department, also General Natavan Murvatova, the prosecutor asked for 12 years of imprisonment. Also, the state prosecutor offered to condemn the group of former officers of the MNS: Fizuli Aliyev to 15 years of imprisonment, Zaur Mammadov - 13 years, Natig Aliyev - 14 years, Farhad Atayev - 7 years, Anara Shiralieva - 7 years, Eshgina Aliyeva - 7 years, Elshad Azizova to 8 years of imprisonment. The prosecutor's office also considers it necessary to deprive the accused of military ranks. All defendants are in custody, except for Murvatova. The defendants were arrested after the dismissal in October 2015 of the former head of the MNS Eldar Mahmudov and personnel cleansing in the special services. They are accused of fraud, misappropriation and embezzlement, unlawful deprivation of liberty, robbery, extortion through threats. The trial will continue on March 1. In two other trials, more than 10 officers of the ministry were convicted of various terms of imprisonment for the staff of the Ministry of National Security. -16D-
