Baku/13.02.21/Turan: The remains of the bodies of seven citizens of the country, allegedly missing in the first Karabakh war, were transferred to the Azerbaijani side, reads the message of the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons of Azerbaijan.

On February 12, as a results of events  conducted by state commission with the participation of representatives of the Military Prosecutor's Office, the Association of Forensic Medical Expertise and Pathological Anatomy of the Ministry of Health and with the mediation of the International Committee of the Cross near the city of Shusha, the Armenian side transferred the remains of 7 bodies allegedly missing during the First Karabakh war, citizens of Azerbaijan.

Emergency procedures are underway to identify the remains, after which they will be handed over to the family members of the victims.

The State Commission, together with other state structures and international organizations, is responding appropriately to clarify the further fate of other citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, missing because of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

According to the data of the state commission, as of December 1, 2020, the total number of persons missing in the first Karabakh war, whose fate has not been clarified, was 3890 people, including 3171 military, 719 civilians (71 children, 267 women, and 326 old people). 05D06-
