Baku/22.07.21/Turan: The organization in defense of press freedom "Reporters without Borders" is outraged by the fact that 200 journalists from 20 countries are being spied on with the help of the Israeli spy system Pegasus.
“Reporters without Borders” has announced its intention to take legal action against those responsible for this massive surveillance, the organization said in a statement.
“The reports of the use of Pegasus spyware are shocking and disgusting given the scale of the surveillance. It is a disgusting tool designed to persecute journalists,” said Christophe Deloire, Secretary General of the RBG.
“We will do everything to ensure that the developer of the program, NSO Group, is punished for the crimes it committed and the tragedies that it made possible. Justice systems in democracies must address this extremely serious issue, establish the facts and punish those responsible.

At least 180 journalists from 20 countries fell victim to the clients of the Israeli spy company from 2016 to June 2021. On January 24, the Khatai District Court of Baku rejected the petition to transfer Meydan TV journalist Aysel Umudova to house arrest, Turan was informed by her lawyer, Agyl Laidj. The defense was aware that the petition would be rejected, but they appealed to the court to follow the necessary procedures for a future appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. The lawyer pointed out the groundlessness of keeping Umudova in custody, as she had not evaded investigation or interfered with witnesses.
