Representative of the State Department discussed issues of economic cooperation with I. Aliyev
Baku/02.02.23/Turan: Today, Laura Lokman, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, discussed with President Aliyev the economic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States, the US Embassy in Azerbaijan said on February 2. According to the same source, Laura Lokman stressed US support for Azerbaijan's energy security and called for the development of bilateral trade and investment to strengthen regional ties.
At the meeting, Ilham Aliyev stressed that the Southern Gas Corridor laid the foundation that creates favorable opportunities for cooperation in the field of renewable energy, the press service of the President of Azerbaijan reported. Azerbaijan has great potential for renewable energy in the Caspian Sea, as well as on land, including the liberated territories.
Laura Lokman stressed the importance of the 9th Ministerial Meeting within the framework of the Consultative Council on the Southern Gas Corridor in Baku, noting that Azerbaijan has made a significant contribution to Europe's energy supply.
She congratulated Aliyev on the signing of the Green Energy Strategic Partnership Agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary and Romania.
The meeting highly appreciated the continued US support for the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project, and expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between the US and Azerbaijan.
During the conversation, the US delegation expressed condolences in connection with the death of an Azerbaijani citizen as a result of a terrorist attack against the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran. ---16D---
