Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran will develop a project to connect energy systems
Moscow/14.08.19/Turan: On August 12, Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran signed an agreement on the joint development of a feasibility study for a project to connect the energy systems of the three countries, RIA-Novosti said.
In the framework of the feasibility study, it is planned to study the technical and economic aspects of the conditions for connecting the power systems, to explore the possibilities of electric power transmission. Based on the results of the study, it is planned to determine technical measures in three countries.
Based on a comprehensive analysis, an assessment of the economic feasibility of connecting the energy systems of the countries participating in the agreement and the implementation of the North-South energy corridor will be carried out, the report says.
It is planned to complete the feasibility study during the year.
The issue of connecting the energy systems of Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran has been discussed since 2005. In April 2018, a meeting of deputy energy ministers of the three countries was held in Baku, following which it was decided to create a tripartite working group on the issue of connecting energy systems. -02D-
