Russia, Turkey Come to Common Denominator on Karabakh – Lavrov
Moscow / 05.12.20 / Turan: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia and Turkey had different approaches to resolving the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, but ultimately were able to come to a common denominator.
At the beginning of the conflict, the Russian side did not agree with Turkey's actions, "when Ankara said that this conflict could have a military solution." "But now, thanks to the efforts of President Putin and his fellow leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, an agreement has been reached," Lavrov recalled, speaking on Friday at an international conference in Moscow.
He stressed that both Russia and Turkey are finding common ground and ways to achieve a common denominator, as happened in the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh.
"I am sure that relations between Russia and Turkey are an example of how two independent countries are working to realize their goals, they do not bow to anyone, do not accept ultimatums and are not subject to pressure from outside," Lavrov said, stressing that Turkey's membership in NATO is not an obstacle to relations between the two countries. -02D-
