Baku/15.09.22/Turan: A two-day summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) opens in Samarkand today.
During the meeting, the heads of the participating countries of this organization are plannig to adopt 28 documents.
Among them are concepts and programs to stimulate intraregional trade, industrial cooperation, transport interconnectedness, etc.
At present, the SCO includes India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia have observer status. The partners are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey and Sri Lanka.
President Ilham Aliyev arrived at the SCO summit as a guest and immediately visited the tomb of ex-President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan refused to participate in the summit "due to the current situation" (a large-scale military conflict on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on September 12-13).
Representatives of China, which is the leader of the organization, expressed regret over Pashinyan's decision. According to Turan information obtained from Chinese sources, it was planned to organize a meeting between Aliyev and Pashinyan at the summit. Beijing expressed interest in the dialogue between Aliyev and Pashinyan within the framework of the SCO summit.
Recall that the SCO was founded in 1996 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
