Show Radio Punished for Insulting the Aliyevs
Baku / 26.01.18 / Turan: The Supreme Council on Television and Radio of Turkey ruled to punish the local radio station Show Radio. The Supreme Council found insults in the comments on the radio about Ilham Aliyev's appointment of his wife Mehriban Aliyeva as the First Vice President of the country.
This took place in the evening program Matrax by Zeki Kayakhan Joshgun.
Five issues of the program are suspended. In addition, the largest fine in the amount of 5% of the company's commercial income is assigned, the Turkish media reported.
This is one of the most severe penalties against the media in the history of Turkey. -06D--

According to a report by Turan correspondent, the discussions took place behind closed doors and lasted for over an hour. No statements were made to the press following the meeting. Furthermore, conference security prevented journalists from asking questions to the meeting participants.
