Six People Arrested in Connection with July 15 Rally
Baku / 18.07.20 / Turan: Members of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Asif Yusifli and Seymur Ahmedzadeh were arrested. They were brought in a criminal case in connection with the “Karabakh action” before the parliament on July 15.
The Nasimi District Court of Baku in the evening of July 18 chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of 2 months 28 days against Yusifli and Ahmedzadeh, the Popular Front Party told Turan.
They were charged under Art. 186.2.1. (destruction or damage to someone else's property with the infliction of major damage to the victim) 233 (organization or participation in actions that entailed violation of public order) and 315 (resisting or using violence against a government official) of the Criminal Code. The activists face up to seven years in prison. In respect of them, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen. This was reported in the PFPA.
The activists pleaded not guilty.
PFPA announces the arrest of the activists on trumped-up politically motivated charges.
According to local media reports, citizens Elchin Mammadov, Ilkin Aliyev, Mushfig Vahabov and Sabuhi Mustafayev were also charged under these articles. They were also arrested by court decisions.
The lawyers and relatives of the arrested were not available for comment. — 21B06-
