Smuggling of Large Consignment of Drugs Prevented
Baku / 26.09.20 / Turan: As a result of the operational-search activities of the State Security Service (SSS) and the State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan, the illegal turnover of a large consignment of drugs smuggled from Iran to Azerbaijan was prevented.
More than 19 kg 736 grams of heroin, 10 kg 149.75 grams of opium, 3 kg 788.18 grams of marijuana, about 104.44 grams of methadone, 19 kg 786.1 grams of methamphetamine and 75 g of a potent substance pregabalin were found and seized from the Azerbaijani citizens Vugar Humbatov and Elnur Aliyev.
In this regard, a criminal case was initiated under Articles 206.3.2 (Smuggling of drugs by a group of persons by prior agreement), 234.4.1 (Illegal manufacture, production, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their precursors by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or by an organized group) and 234.4.3 (Illegal manufacture, production, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their precursors by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or by an organized group on a large scale) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
Humbatov and Aliyev were brought to the investigation as defendants and by a court decision a preventive measure was chosen in the form of arrest.
