SSSA detained Afghan resident who planned terrorist attack against foreign embassy
Baku/10.07.23/Turan: An Afghan citizen was detained by the State Securuty Service of Azerbaijan' (SSSA) on suspicion of planning terrorist acts on the territory of the country.
On July 10, the SSSA announced the detention of a citizen of Afghanistan, Fawzan Musa Khan.
According to the report of the SSSA department of public relations, the investigation found that he, having entered into collusion with other persons in order to undermine public stability, sow panic among the population, influence the decisions of state authorities and international organizations, planned terrorist acts on the territory of Azerbaijan, accompanied by explosions, fires and other similar dangerous incidents, loss of life, damage to their health, property.
The said foreigner, in order to plan a terrorist attack against an embassy of a third state, conducted observations around the territory where the diplomatic mission is located, colluded with other persons who could be involved in this activity, assist in the acquisition of weapons and explosives, and receive financial assistance.
Fawzan was caught red-handed at the scene of the crime and brought to criminal responsibility as an accused under Articles 28, 214.2.1 and 28, 214.2.3. A preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against him by a court decision.
At present, the State Security Service is conducting comprehensive investigative and operational legal procedural measures in order to establish the full circle of persons who planned a terrorist act.
The message does not indicate against the embassy of which country the Afghan was planning a terrorist attack. However, judging by the operational video distributed by the State Security Service, the foreigner conducted surveillance around the Hyatt Regency hotel complex, where, among other institutions, the Embassy of Israel is also located. -06B-
