Strasbourg Court will announce a decision on the complaint from Ilgar Mamedov May 22
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on May 22 will announce a decision on the complaint of the leader of REAL Ilgar Mamedov , who was arrested Feb. 4, 2013 in connection with the Ismayilly events. Mamedov 's lawyer Fuad Agayev told Turan.
The application was accepted for review on a priority basis in April 2013. It questions infringement of Mamedov's rights, guaranteed by Articles 5 (right to liberty and security ) , 6 (right to a fair trial ), 13 ( right to an effective remedy) , 14 (prohibition of discrimination based on political affiliation ) and 18 (inadmissibility of exceeding the limits stipulated by the Convention of restrictions on rights ) of the European Convention.
With great confidence we can assume that the ECHR decision will be in favor of Mamedov, given increased attention of the ECHR to the case which was accepted for review as a priority that is actually an exceptional basis.
Note that Mamedov had already been convicted on the Ismayilli events to seven years' imprisonment. On this sentence the defense will obviously lodge a complaint with the ECHR , if the Appeal or the Supreme Court do not justify Mamedov before.
Amnesty International has recognized Mamedov " prisoner of conscience ."
