Tbilisi offers a platform for high-level dialogue to Yerevan and Baku
Baku/27.09.21/Turan: At a briefing on Monday, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, proposed creating a platform in Tbilisi for permanent contacts between high-ranking officials of Armenia and Azerbaijan in order to promote a dialogue at a high level.
Earlier, on September 25, speaking at the general debate of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, Gabriashvili said: "We propose in the South Caucasus" Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative "to promote stability in our region."
Tbilisi is ready to host an international meeting, where the prospects for a peaceful good-neighborly initiative will be discussed, which will include the South Caucasian neighbors and international partners, the head of the government noted.
“From a geopolitical point of view, the importance of the Black Sea region is growing significantly. The Black Sea is at the forefront of the chessboard of a dynamic competition. This is a microcosm of conflict management: if peace and stability are preserved here, it will be possible to achieve the same in another place. Therefore, our goal is to ensure peace and stability in the entire region. In the South Caucasus, we are proposing a Neighborhood Peace Initiative to promote the stability of our region.
This format will help create dialogue and faith and will be a practical solution to regional issues of common interest with our American and European partners. Georgia is ready to host an international meeting in Tbilisi, where the prospects of our peaceful, good-neighborly initiative, to which our South Caucasian neighbors and international partners will join, will be discussed,” Garibashvili said.
“Let's start building trust in small steps and then move on to other regional and global issues. A stable peace and a common strategic perspective in the South Caucasus will benefit the entire Black Sea region, as well as ensure stability for the broader architecture of European security,” said Irakli Garibashvili.
After the end of the 44-day war, Turkish Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan came up with an initiative or plans to create a "platform of six" for the development of cooperation between the states of the region of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Iran, Georgia, Armenia. Georgia and Armenia reacted coolly to the initiative. Georgia associates this with the pro-European vector of development, Armenia has complicated relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey. — 0—
