Tehran got another click. AZAL started flying to Nakhchivan via Armenia
Baku /06.10.21/Turan: On October 5, the Tehran regime closed its airspace not only for the military aviation of Azerbaijan but for the civil aviation as well. Thus, the "friends and brothers of the Shiites" decided to teach Azerbaijan a lesson and force it to abandon its principled position. However, since October 6, Azerbaijani civil aircraft started flying to Nakhchivan through the territory of Armenia.
"This step demonstrates Azerbaijan's resolute readiness to unblock transport communications in the region which meets the interests of all border countries," AZAL said in a statement.
Note that changing the route of the Baku-Nakhchivan-Baku flight will reduce the flight time in this direction and reduce fuel consumption during the flight, a press release says.
Thus, as the company stressed, from now on, AZAL can use all existing air corridors, including those passing through the territories of Armenia and Iran when performing this flight.
It should be added that the air traffic between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic over the territory of Armenia has been interrupted for many years due to the Karabakh conflict. All this time, flights to Nakhchivan were made over the air space of Iran.-21B06-
