The chairman of the Barda branch of the Red Crescent Society is suspected of embezzlement
Baku/26.05.21/Turan: A criminal case has been lodged against illegal actions of officials of the regional branch of the Red Crescent Society of Azerbaijan.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, on May 25, a criminal case has been opened on the fact of illegal actions of officials of the Barda branch of the Red Crescent Society. The case was initiated by the Main Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General in line with Article 311.3.2 of the Criminal Code (receiving an especially large bribe).
Strong suspicions were revealed over actions of the chairman of the Barda branch of the OKP, Khanlar Ismayilov, who has been working in this position since 2012. During the period of work, Ismaylov wrote out social targeted assistance to people who have a job, though this is illegal. Targeted social assistance is issued to inactive persons. Moreover, Ismailov kept money cards at home and used funds for his own needs. There are reasonable suspicions that Ismayilov used these funds as a bribe.
Currently, the scope of persons involved in these crimes is being investigated and the work is underway to bring them to justice. Operational and investigative actions are continuing. -03-
