The colonel guilty of bribery got off surprisingly easy
Baku/07.05.21/Turan: The Baku military court passed a conditional sentence to Colonel of the State Border Guard Service Samig Azizov, who was arrested under two articles of the Criminal Code - 311 (taking a bribe) and 308 (abuse of office).
He was arrested in the spring of 2020, along with a group of high-ranking officers of the State Border Service, who organized a criminal community, collecting money from poachers fishing in the Caspian.
Today the colonel was released in the courtroom.
It is noteworthy that the court does not disclose to which suspended sentence the colonel was sentenced. Oppositionists and critics of the government are imprisoned for 5-7 years under such articles. -02D-
