Baku/26.01.21/Turan: The Baku Court of Appeal (BCA) rejected the complaint of Vugar Safarli, the former executive director of the State Media Support Fund, about the refusal to change the measure of restraint to house arrest. He was charged under several Articles of the Criminal Code: 179.4 (embezzlement on an especially large scale), 193-1.3.2 (legalization of especially large funds obtained by illegal means), 308.2 (abuse of office, which led to serious consequences), 313 (official forgery) ... Under these articles, he faces up to 14 years in prison.
Safarli was the henchman and closest person of the former presidential aide Ali Hasanov. Safarli was fired from office in April 2020, and Ali Hasanov in November 2019. -02D-
