The Diplomat and Musicians Who Went to Tbilisi Reconciled?
Baku / 21.01.20 / Turan: On January 14, a fight broke out in the Tbilisi restaurant with the participation of an employee of the Azerbaijani Embassy Vugar Mustafayev.
According to the Georgian service of Radio Liberty, the cause of the incident was the performance by singer Afig Novruzov of the song Girl, Stop.
The diplomat decided that this was an Armenian song and demanded an explanation from the artist why he performed it. During the fight, the singer and his counterpart were injured. The local police department launched an investigation.
In turn, the singer Afig Novruzov on January 14 posted a video appeal on his Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/negdpul.nato/videos/2261026247332193/, where he set out the details. According to him, this song was ordered by visitors to the restaurant, it was in Russian, not in Armenian, and anyone can listen to it on YouTube.
As for this song, its author is a singer from Turkmenistan, Armenian Shahunts. However, this does not give the diplomat the right to rush at the musicians with his fists.
However, on January 21, the singer deleted this entry, explaining that the conflict was settled at the request of "authoritative people."
In turn, the journalist Anastasia Arabuli, the author of the material on Radio Liberty https://www.rferl.org/z/656, told Turan that she had a talk with Mustafayev on Friday and he confirmed the fact of the conflict.
It is noteworthy that a day later the name of Mustafayev, who was the First Secretary of the Embassy, disappeared from the Embassy's website. However, on January 21, Arabuli again contacted Mustafayev and he confirmed that he continued to work as the First Secretary of the Embassy.
Turan’s attempts to get a comment at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tbilisi failed. The girl who picked up the phone after several minutes of negotiations with the leadership told Turan that the embassy could not comment on the situation with the diplomat’s fight in the restaurant. She also could not explain why the name Mustafayev disappeared from the Embassy website.
It was also not possible to get a comment at the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. -02B-
