The exercises of the navy forces of the Azerbaijani State Border Service (SBS)in the Caspian Sea completed
Baku /20.08.18/Turan: The tactical combat exercises of the Coast Guard and the rapid reaction forces of the State Border Service (SBS), which were conducted in the territorial waters of Azerbaijan in the Caspian Sea, completed on August 10.The maneuvers were carried out with the aim of improving the possibilities of protecting the state interests of Azerbaijan, suppressing the illegal use of the Caspian Sea basin, including for the transportation of narcotic drugs and other contraband and illegal migration, the SBS said.
In addition, the personnel of the GPS has worked out the skills to ensure the safety of oil and gas production, the infrastructure for their transportation, and the search for and neutralization of subversive groups on the sea and on land.
Exercises were conducted also to find targets through underwater surveillance systems, search for and neutralize submarine sabotage groups, conduct border searches on helicopters and ships, missile and artillery strikes.-06D--

The losses in Azerbaijan’s defense and security sector for the first 11 months of 2024 amounted to at least 50 people. Of these, 48 were non-combat losses. On Friday, the State Security Service (SGB) issued an official statement confirming the arrest of Gahraman Mammadov, the assistant military attaché of Azerbaijan in the U.S., who was previously detained in Istanbul with 70 kg of gold. Mammadov is accused of smuggling in conspiracy with another Azerbaijani citizen, Anar Gassimov, and foreign nationals.
