The final text of the Eastern Partnership summit has not yet been agreed upon - the representative of the EU
Baku / 21.11.17 / Turan: The final text of the declaration of the summit of the Eastern Partnership countries, which will be held on Friday in Brussels, has not been agreed upon, said a senior EU official on Tuesday during a video conference with journalists from the Eastern Partnership countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus.) "The text is at the development stage, and so far nothing concrete can be said about it," he said, adding that there are disagreements between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Baku wants to include in the final text the principle of territorial integrity, and Armenia - the principle of self-determination of peoples. Touching upon the EU-Azerbaijan relations, the representative of the European Union noted that since the previous summit in Riga, Azerbaijan has achieved "significant progress".
"The new agreement, negotiations on which are being conducted between the EU and Azerbaijan, will be another step forward and a new stage will begin in our relations. Azerbaijan is an important energy partner of the EU. The issue of energy efficiency is key and at the upcoming summit, it may be included in the text of the final document," he said. Within the framework of the summit, an aviation agreement between Azerbaijan and the EU can also be initiated. The EU representative also recalled that the EU is the main trade partner of Azerbaijan. 48.5% of the foreign trade turnover falls on the share of the EU countries. -71D-
