The Foreign Ministry receives the PACE rapporteur
On 25 August the Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the PACE rapporteur Milica Markovic on the topic: "Deprivation of water in the frontline areas of Azerbaijan."
The Minister drew her attention to the fact that the Azerbaijani population of the frontal zone was deprived of the opportunity to enjoy water of Sarsang reservoir in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Moreover, Armenia uses this reservoir for the threats and damage to people and the environment. In the spring the Armenian side opens the gates and floods the surrounding area. In the summer, in a drought, the Armenians do not allow the use of water.
It should be noted that the mission of Markovic was established at the insistence of Azerbaijan. On the results of the trip and meetings in Azerbaijan, the mission of Markovic will prepare a report on the PACE session.
Sarsang reservoir was built in the mid-80s in the territory of the Martakert region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
After the armed conflict, the territory is under Armenian occupation. -06D-
