The former head of Agstafa and his deputy sentenced to 9 and 8.5 years of imprisonment
Baku/07.08.21/Turan: On August 7, the trial of Nizameddin Guliyev, the former head of the Agstafa region, finished at the court for serious crimes of the city of Ganja.
The court found him guilty of corruption, abuse of official position and extortion sentencing him to 9 years of imprisonment. Note that his deputy, Ramiz Tatarov was sentenced to 8 and a half years of imprisonment on the same charges.
It should be recalled that these persons were arrested by the state security service in December 2019.
That was followed by a series of arrests of the heads of local executive power on similar charges. In total, 7 heads have so far been arrested.-02D-

A new draft agreement on financing climate programs, unveiled at the 29th session of the UN Conference on Climate Change (COP29), proposes allocating at least $1.3 trillion (€1.23 trillion) annually for climate protection measures and adaptation to the impact of climate change, according to a 34-page document released on Wednesday. On November 13, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Afghan Taliban held talks in Baku as part of the COP29 conference. According to a report by Turan correspondent, the discussions took place behind closed doors and lasted for over an hour. No statements were made to the press following the meeting. Furthermore, conference security prevented journalists from asking questions to the meeting participants.
