The lawyer said about the deterioration of the health of the ex-Prosecutor General Eldar Hasanov
Baku/30.03.21/Turan: The condition of Eldar Hasanov, the arrested ex-prosecutor general and ex-ambassador of Azerbaijan to Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, has sharply deteriorated. In particular, he can walk with difficulty and cannot move without a cane. He also has severe stomach and back pain, said his lawyer Adem Mammadov.
In addition, the defender complains that he cannot see Hasanov when necessary. The lawyer also said that the investigator in the case tried to get evidence against Hasanov from his son. “Forcing a son to testify against a father who is going through critical moments in his life, not allowing doctors to see him, is not only a violation of the law, but also a religious sin,” the lawyer said.
The investigator explains his actions by the instructions he receives from the leadership of the prosecutor's office and the country, Adem Mammadov claims.
In turn, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office denied the lawyer's allegations. “The investigator did not say the words attributed to him by the lawyer. This is a fairly experienced and responsible employee who conducts business objectively,” said a representative for the press service.
The ambassador of Azerbaijan to Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Eldar Hasanov, was detained on August 13 in connection with a criminal case against officials of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on abuse of authority, taking bribes and embezzling budget money.
Hasanov was charged under Articles 308.2 (abuse of office, resulting in grave consequences) and 308-1.1 (misuse of state budget funds) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Under these articles, he faces up to 7 years in prison.-03B06-
