Baku/31.07.23/Turan: The position of Azerbaijan and Turkey in the post-conflict period is based on international norms and principles, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov stated today at a joint press conference in Ankara with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan at the end of the negotiations. The signing the peace agreement proposed by Azerbaijan to Armenia, proceeding from the principle of respect for the sovereignty and inviolability of the borders of the countries on a mutual basis, is of great importance, Bayramov stressed.
Armenia's retention of its armed formations in the Azerbaijani territories, Yerevan's obstruction of the opening of the Zangezur corridor, interference in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan under the pretext of "protecting the rights" of Armenians living in Karabakh, as well as the creation of obstacles to their reintegration into the Azerbaijani state and society remain serious threats to peace and tranquility in the region, he said.
Bayramov also noted that the 44-day Patriotic War was a vivid example of Azerbaijani-Turkish relations of solidarity and brotherhood at a level that has no analogues in the world. He said that he had discussed cooperation on a number of international platforms with his Turkish counterpart. In this context, he expressed the opinion that the Azerbaijani-Turkish-Israeli platform can be important from the point of view of the broader geography of relations between the countries. Bayramov also said that the construction of the Igdyr-Nakhchivan gas pipeline will be completed in 2024.
In general, as Bayramov noted, the energy sector is one of the successful areas of the current relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. In the near future, there will be an increase in the volume of Azerbaijani natural gas supplies to the markets of Turkey and Eastern Europe, he stressed. ---06B---
