Baku/14.03.22/Turan: The Public Platform for the Support of Ukraine proposed to rename Moscow Avenue in Baku to Mariupol.
A corresponding appeal was sent to the Executive Power of Baku; more than 1000 people support the petrition.
The initiative was put forward as a sign of solidarity with the residents of Mariupol, a city of 400,000 people that is being massively bombed by Russian troops. More than 2,000 civilians have already died in the besieged city.
It was not possible to get comments from the Executive Power of Baku.
The Public Support Platform for Ukraine is a non-political civil initiative. It includes well-known representatives of the civil society of Azerbaijan - Khagani Jafarli, Tural Agayev, Asif Yusifli, Sevinj Vagifgizi, Adyl Geybulla, Tatyana Kryuchkina, Seymur Hazi and Abulfaz Gurbanli.—03B-
