The US is not happy with media law - ambassador
Baku/16.02.22/Turan: The way the new law "On Media" was adopted is "disappointing". During the work on the draft law, the opinions of all interested parties and the proposals of experts were not taken into account in order to improve this document.
The US Embassy is in close contact with government officials, media and journalists.
“We have been open about our concerns. Much will depend on how this law is applied in practice. If the authorities use him to restrict freedom of the press, it will be very disappointing. If the authorities will use the law as they promise - to raise the level of the press and the professionalism of journalists, this is another matter,” the ambassador said. -02B-
