There is a threat to the life of Gubad Ibadoglu – Ghalib Bayramov

Baku/04.08.23/Turan: The health  of opposition politician Gubad Ibadoglu has deteriorated sharply in the Baku pre-trial detention center-1. Doctors diagnosed his aortic dilation, which is fraught with its rupture and death, said the politician's brother Togrul Bayramov.

"For 13 days after his detention, Gubad Ibadoglu's blood sugar level and blood pressure are significantly higher than normal, he is losing weight rapidly. Even if he takes medications in a timely manner, there will be no benefit from it. Because in the current conditions of detention in the pre–trial detention center - lack of clean air, immobility, unsanitary conditions, not providing a meeting with family and other forms of psychological pressure, one should not even hope for improvement," Bayramov wrote on Facebook.

According to him, the management of the pre-trial detention center, realizing the seriousness of the situation, called doctors to Ibadoglu today. He was given an echo cardiological examination. It revealed an expansion of the aorta in the last two weeks from 37 mm to 41 mm. This is a very alarming signal, Bayramov continued.

"Aortic dilation is an irreversible process. Through treatment, it is only possible to prevent the expansion of the aorta. In conditions when blood pressure is stable 150 to 100, and blood sugar is 2-3 times higher than normal, the expansion of the aorta to rupture is inevitable, that is, the risk of death is imminent," Bayramov continued.

Ibadoglu's continued detention means condemning him to death, Bayramov noted.

He called on international and local human rights organizations, heads of foreign diplomatic missions and everyone who is able not to remain indifferent to prevent the "execution of the death sentence" against Ibadoglu.

* It should be recalled that the head of the Azerbaijani Democracy and Welfare Party, Gubad Ibadoglu, was detained on July 23 in the afternoon. On Monday , he was charged under Article 204 .3.1 (manufacture for marketing purposes, as well as the acquisition or sale of counterfeit money, or foreign currency, as part of an organized group) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Under this article, he faces a sentence of imprisonment from 8 to 12 years. On July 24, the court arrested him for the period of investigation for a period of 4 months. Local and human rights organizations condemned the persecution of Ibadoglu and demanded his release. On July 28, the Court of Appeal upheld the decision to arrest Ibadoglu.

** Last month, Ibadoglu, together with the head of the National Council, Professor Jamil Hasanli and disgraced diplomat Arif Mammadov, who is in political exile in Europe, announced the creation of the Azerbaijani Youth Education Fund, which was registered in London.

Ibadoglu took the initiative to confiscate the property of Azerbaijani officials abroad and transfer these funds to the mentioned fund. -06B-
