Turan News Agency Appeals against Decision of Ministry of Taxes to Freeze Its Bank Accounts
Baku / 05.10.17 / Turan: The Turan news agency appealed to Baku Administrative Economic Court No. 1 with a request to suspend the decisions of tax authorities on writing off money from its bank accounts. This was announced by the lawyer Fuad Agayev.
On October 2, the Ministry of Taxes sent to the banks, where the Turan news agency"s accounts are registered, an order to withdraw incoming money to pay off the agency"s tax debt.
It should be reminded that on August 7, the Baku Local Income Department of the Ministry of Taxes decided that the agency evaded from tax payments in the period from July 31, 2014 to July 31, 2017 in the amount of 26,907 manat and applied a fine of about 10,000 manat. The total amount of the claim to the news agency was about 37,000 manat.
Already on August 8, the Tax Crimes Preliminary Investigation Department of the Ministry of Taxes started an on-site inspection after the fact. In parallel with this, a criminal case was brought against the news agency, and its director Mehman Aliyev was arrested on August 24. On September 11, he was changed the measure of restraint under a written recognizance not to leave the place. After that, the news agency"s accounts were unblocked. -0-
