Turkish Foreign Minister calls on NATO to call for settlement of Karabakh conflict based on UN resolutions
Baku / 05.10.20 / Turan: “Armenia is directly targeting civilians. This is essentially a war crime," said the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu today at a press conference after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Ankara.
He noted that France, one of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, openly supported Armenia.
The Minsk Cochairs, created to solve this problem, must be objective,” Cavusoglu said.
He recalled the genocide committed by the Armenians in Khojaly and the recent aggression of Armenia in the Tovuz direction.
Now, Armenia, which has found itself at a dead end, has begun to bombard Ganja and even Baku with rockets.
“In other words, it directly targets civilians, which is essentially a war crime,” Cavusoglu said.
He stressed that everyone justly supports Ukraine and Georgia when their territorial integrity is under threat, so why not say that Armenia should also withdraw from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
According to him, NATO should be called upon to withdraw the occupation forces from the region within the framework of international law and UN Security Council resolutions.
“We are closely following the situation in the Karabakh region. The parties must end the conflict as soon as possible, there is no military solution to this problem, "NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg said in turn. - 0616D-
