Ukraine has secured a course for membership in the EU and NATO in the constitution
Baku / 07.02.19 / Turan: The bill on the irreversibility of the course of Ukraine on European and Euro-Atlantic integration was adopted on February 7 by the Verkhovna Rada in the second reading. The president is declared the guarantor of this course.
A constitutional majority voted in support of the bill - 334 parliamentarians.
The draft law states that the definition of the foundations of domestic and foreign policy, the implementation of the strategic course of the state to acquire full membership of Ukraine in the EU and in NATO belong to the powers of the parliament. In this case, the president is declared the guarantor of the implementation of this strategic course.
Earlier, Petr Poroshenko expressed the opinion that after making amendments to the constitution in terms of securing a course for NATO, Ukraine will meet the criteria of a country that claims to become a member of the alliance. Poroshenko also expressed confidence that Ukraine also needs the North Atlantic alliance. -02D-
