Updates to Composition of Supreme Court
Baku / 05.05.20 / Turan: On May 5, the Milli Majlis examined and approved the appointment of judges of the Supreme Court on the proposal of the President of Azerbaijan.
Parliament approved the appointment of members of the Supreme Court: Kamala Abiyeva, Zaur Aliyev, Vugar Hasanov, Abdin Huseynov, Ismail Khalilov, and Elshad Shamayev (all from the Baku Court of Appeal).
Isfandiyar Shafiyev was transferred to the Supreme Court from the Ganja Court of Appeal, Fehruza Abbasova from the Shirvan Court of Appeal, and Mubariz Huseynov from the Sheki Court of Appeal.
Chingiz Askerov, Bahman Garibov and Bahram Mammadli were also appointed judges of the Supreme Court.
Askerov has long been the ambassador of Azerbaijan to the European Court of Human Rights. –06D--
