US Embassy on opportunity for Azerbaijani citizens to study in America
The US Embassy in Azerbaijan announced that 901 Azerbaijanis will study in America in the 2022/2023 academic year. This is up by 23.8% from a year earlier.
According to Hugo Guevara, US Charge d'Affaires in Azerbaijan, this means "a significant growth in opportunity for innovation, cooperation and joint success."
The Embassy also notes with "pride" that "the United States remains the best place in the world for international education, where more than a million (1,057,188) foreign students study."
"International exchanges create new connections that help us cooperate on critical issues. That's why international education is an important part of our diplomacy and our national security," US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said.

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
