White House says, It Would Be Easier For Russian Troops If They Just Got ‘The Hell Out’ Of Ukraine
The White House on Tuesday pledged more support for Ukraine on the heels of an address from Russia's Vladimir Putin that his troops were experiencing setbacks in its war, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
“I would venture to say that things could be a heck of a lot less complicated for the Russians in Ukraine if they would just get the hell out and just take their troops out of the country,” White House national security council spokesman John Kirby told reporters on a conference call.
Earlier in the day, Putin in a speech said that Russian forces were experiencing complications in parts of Ukraine, a slight admission of the resistance posed by Ukrainian troops.
Kirby added that the U.S. would continue its financial and security assistance for Ukraine.
Asked by TURAN whether Russia’s reaction affected Washington plans on possible US delivery of Patriot systems to Kiev, Kirby said, Russia "doesn't get to dictate the terms of the security assistance that we provide to Ukraine"
The U.S., he added, is going to continue to work with Ukraine "in lockstep to provide them the kinds of capabilities that we think can be helpful to them in terms of their self defense.
Ukrainian officials report U.S. systems have been extremely effective in countering Russia's continued missile and drone assaults, according to the Pentagon.
