Who fired “Iskander” at Shusha - Russians or Armenians?

Baku/02.04.21/Turan: On April 2, in Baku, a representative of the Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) presented to the press fragments of “Iskander” missiles discovered in the city of Shusha on March 15. The Ministry of Defense did not answer Turan's questions: why the wreckage was brought to Baku and, most importantly, who fired (Russian or Armenian armed forces) at Shusha. The press service of the Ministry of Defense advised to address questions to ANAMA.

Head of ANAMA headquarters Idris Ismayilov, in an interview with Turan, said that the remnants of the missiles were found by him in Shusha, some parts are on the outskirts of the city, others are in the center, next to the building where the Armenians held the inauguration of the so-called “president”.

"The leadership decided to bring the fragments to Baku and show everyone interested. We assume that these are fragments of two missiles. They exploded. Due to the fact that a long time has passed since then, no particles of a warhead have been found," Ismayilov said.

The shelling of the civilian city of Shusha by "Iskander" by the Armenian Armed Forces or by the Russian military stationed in Armenia is a subject of discussion in Azerbaijan.

Thus, military expert Tarlan Eyvazov believes that the missiles were launched by the Armenian side.

However, the Ukrainian expert Alexander Arestovich, in an interview with Turan, said that the missiles were deliberately launched by the Russian Armed Forces from Armenia. He believes that the effect was not great, since "they were blanks." The Russians wanted to determine the accuracy of the hit in this way. Usually, after hitting with a blank, the coordinates are refined and a warhead is launched, he said.

As for the disclosure of the fact of the shelling of Shushi by “Iskander” and the delivery of their units to Baku, in the opinion of many local analysts, with these steps, Baku and Ankara are sending a clear message to Russia, indicating their unwillingness to close their eyes to the Kremlin's actions.

What caused this is not clear, because earlier Ilham Aliyev personally stated that “Iskander” missiles were not used during the Second Karabakh war. However, apparently something changed if Baku decided to provide evidence that the missiles were still used. It is possible that a certain political trade is going on around this, and Azerbaijan does not intend to retreat. -0-
