Yerevan and Armenians of Karabakh rejected Aliyev's ultimatum and are preparing for war
Baku/30.05.23/Turan: Ilham Aliyev's demands for the dissolution of the "state structures of Karabakh" and the adoption of Azerbaijani citizenship by Karabakh Armenians are unacceptable.
This is stated in the statement of the Armenian Foreign Ministry in response to the appeal voiced by the President of Azerbaijan on May 28 to the separatists of Karabakh.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry considers Aliyev's appeal as violations of the UN Charter and the Tripartite Statement of October 31, 2022 in Sochi, the Trilateral Statement of November 9, 2020.
Azerbaijan has blockaded Nagorno-Karabakh and is threatening to carry out "ethnic cleansing" of Armenians in Karabakh, the statement said.
"Azerbaijan not only threatens the population of Nagorno-Karabakh with genocide, but also calls into question the independence and territorial integrity of Armenia," the Armenian Foreign Ministry believes.
In turn, the "parliament" of Karabakh also made a statement in which it also accuses Baku of preparing "ethnic cleansing." This proves that the Armenians of Karabakh cannot live as a part of Azerbaijan.
“The people of Artsakh have chosen the path of self-determination, sovereignty and statehood, the pillars of which are the President and the National Assembly. Therefore, we strongly condemn such encroachments on the self-determination, sovereignty and security of the people of Artsakh,” the statement says.
The separatists call on Russia and the international community to prevent "military aggression" against Karabakh, the statement said.
Recall that on May 28 in Lachin, Ilham Aliyev demanded that the Karabakh Armenians renounce separatism and enmity, disarm the armed forces, dissolve self-proclaimed state structures, recognize the legislation of Azerbaijan and live as citizens of this country. Otherwise, appropriate action will be taken against them. -02D-
