Baku / 20.08.20 / Turan: Despite the court's decision to transfer Mehdi Ibrahimov to house arrest from the specialized medical institution number 3 of the Penitentiary Service, he was taken to a quarantine point in the "Athletes' Village" in Baku.

Mehdi Ibrahimov's brother Turan Ibrahim said about it.

“Although the court ruled to release Mehdi from custody and transfer him to house arrest, he was not brought home. An ambulance was sent for him and taken to the Athletes' Village. The Penitentiary institution ignored the presentation by the lawyer of the court decision on the transfer of Mehdi to house arrest. The lawyer was told that "this is the order." But whose "assignment" it was was not said. At the same time, Mehdi was deprived of the opportunity to use a mobile phone,» Ibrahim told Turan .

Lawyer Agil Lahıc called the quarantine of Mehdi Ibrahimov illegal.

“Firstly, the court decision clearly and unambiguously states that Mehdi Ibrahimov should be released from custody and placed under house arrest. But, for medical reasons, there was no need or expediency of placing Mehdi Ibrahim in quarantine. For if we assume that Mehdi was sick with COVID-19, then all quarantine periods have expired. But the fact is that there is no reliable evidence of Mehdi's infection in the case materials,” the lawyer said.

He intends to seek the execution of the court decision.

The lawyer said that after 10 days of hunger strike, Mehdi Ibrahim had lost a lot of weight and looked pale.  --0------

Court ruled to transfer Mehdi Ibrahimov to house arrest

Baku / 19.08.20 / Turan: Today, the Khatai District Court of Baku granted the defense's petition to transfer under house arrest  Mehdi Ibrahimov, the son of a member of the PFPA Presidium Mamed,  said the lawyer Agil Laidj.

According to him, Mehdi Ibrahimov himself was not brought to court.

However, according to the court decision, he will be released from the specialized medical institution of the Penitentiary Service today and placed under house arrest with the obligation to wear an electronic bracelet.

Mehdi Ibrahimov has been on a hunger strike since August 10, demanding his release.

Mehdi Ibrahimov was detained after the July 14-15 rally in support of the army and accused of violating the quarantine regime and violating self-isolation, as he is sick with corona virus. Under Article 139-1.1 of the Criminal Code, he faces up to 3 years in prison. However, there was no medical document obliging Mehdi Ibrahimov to stay at home. During the action, he also did not commit any illegal actions.

Relatives believe that the reason for the arrest is Ibrahimov's father, a well-known opposition figure and former political prisoner Mamed Ibrahim. He was detained on July 26 and charged under the Article 186.2.1 (causing damage to other people's property), 233 (violation of public order), 315.1 (violence against a police officer) and 278.1 (violent seizure of power) of the Criminal Code. Mamed Ibrahim was arrested for 4 months.

Human rights activists recognized  Mehdi Ibrahimov and Mamed Ibrahimov as political prisoners . –16B06-
