Over 11 months of the year 6.5 tons of drugs withdrawn from illegal turnover in Azerbaijan
Baku/16.12.21/Turan: 8,095 cases of drug-related crimes were revealed during the first 11 months of the year.
Out of them 3066 were illegal sale of drugs, 4553 - illegal purchase and storage of drugs, 375 - illegal cultivation of narcotic plants and 101 - with other crimes of this category. These data are mentioned in the report of the State Commission for Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Substances.
According to the facts revealed, 6 tons 582 kg 702 grams of drugs were withdrawn from illegal turnover which is estimated in monetary value of AZN 190 million ($111 million).
It should be emphasized that in the reviewed period 433,716 wild plants containing narcotics were detected and destroyed on 810,469 ha with the total weight of 174 tons 970 kg.
A total of 5,725 people were brought to criminal responsibility for drug trafficking. Of them, 62 were foreign citizens, including 24 from Iran, 12 from Georgia, 14 from Russia, 7 from Turkey, 3 from Ukraine, 1 from India and 1 from Pakistan.
Note that estimated value of drugs and psychotropic substances seized from illegal circulation in January-November 2021 is 190 million manats ($111 million) -05D06-
