Return of climbers from Pakistan is expected

Team of climbers from  Azerbaijan, which  participated in the international expedition "Nanga Parbat in 2013," is preparing to return home by the end of the week.

 
According to Turan team leader, the president of the Mountaineering Federation of the country, Israfil Ashurly, now the team is in Islamabad, where they were urgently evacuated by military helicopters after the attack on June 22, when radical Islamists shot 10 members of the expedition near the base camp at an altitude of about 4200 meters. Then the Pakistani authorities decided to stop the expedition.
 
At the same time, much of the expedition’s equipment and cargo weighing several tons, left there. On Wednesday and Thursday, the Pakistan Air Force helicopters exported the equipment in parts. It is hoped that on Saturday and Sunday, our athletes will be able to fly home.
At the time of the terrorist attack, our team was at an altitude of about 6100 meters, the most difficult part of the journey and had to quickly come down.
 
Among the dead were 3 representatives of Ukraine,  Chinese and Slovakiya, one Lithuanian, one Nepalian and a local interpreter.
 
Responsibility for the attack, took the radical Islamists who declared that they are taking revenge on the West. -02В-
