Nikol Pashinyan
Is Pashinyan Setting Conditions?
Baku / 24.07.20 / Turan: Inspired by the military "successes" of July 12-16, Nikol Pashinyan made a number of loud statements on July 23, actually setting conditions for Baku.
Speaking at a government meeting, Pashinyan said: “We have long called on Azerbaijan not to speak with us in the language of force and threats to use force. Now we can say that Armenia not only rejected the threat of force at the negotiating table, but also demonstrated on the battlefield that they are baseless and do not reflect the real balance of forces. By the real alignment, we mean not only the number of weapons and manpower, but above all the quality of actions and the level of control. Now we can confidently assert that the armed forces of Armenia, the Armenian army not only demonstrated high combat readiness, but also gained a reputation as the most intelligent army with high combat readiness. "
According to Pashinyan, the July battles strengthened Armenia's position, and it draws the following conclusions:
1) The general security system of Armenia and Karabakh must be strengthened;
2) Karabakh must become a full-fledged party to the negotiations;
3) Azerbaijan must publicly renounce the use of force and stop anti-Armenian rhetoric;
4) Negotiations will make sense if Azerbaijan is ready to move away from its maximalist demands and to compromise without restrictions. Recognition of the right of Karabakh to self-determination, the security of Armenia and Karabakh will not be subject to concessions;
5) The countries supplying weapons to Azerbaijan should be aware that the use of these weapons against civilians is a crime, since it seems that not only Azerbaijan is fighting against Armenia and its civilians, but also international corporations producing ultra-precise lethal weapons, together with their specialists;
6) It is necessary to introduce a system of international monitoring, which will include continuous monitoring mechanisms designed to record who violates the ceasefire;
7) Armenia will continue to work with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and categorically rejects Turkey's attempts to destabilize the region, Pashinyan said.
Official Baku has not yet expressed its attitude to this statement. -02D-
