Azerbaijan demands to open Lachin corridor - media
Baku/18.01.23/Turan: On Wednesday, the Armenian edition of "Hraparak" reported about a closed meeting on January 17 between the leader of the Karabakh separatists Arayik Harutyunyan and the "deputies of parliament" of Karabakh. Harutyunyan announced Azerbaijan's demands to open the Lachin corridor.
These demands look like this: the dismissal of Ruben Vardanyan, the suspension of the operation of the Kashen mine (Gyzylbulag), the installation of X-ray scanners at the Russian checkpoint in Lachin and the presence of an Azerbaijani representative there, who should control cargo transportation from Armenia to Karabakh and back.
In addition, heavy military equipment, the deliveries of which were carried out after the end of the 44-day war, should be withdrawn from Karabakh.
According to Harutyunyan, these demands were conveyed through peacekeepers, but the Armenians rejected them, “because there are no guarantees that the corridor will not be closed again,” Hraparak writes.
According to Armenian sources, a meeting between representatives of Baku and Arayik Harutyunyan took place in Karabakh the day before, with the participation of the commander of the peacekeepers, General Volkov. The Azerbaijani side was attended by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the deputy chief of the General Staff and another official. ---02D---
