Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Iran discussed the aggravation of bilateral relations
Baku/08.04.23/Turan: On April 7 and 8, telephone conversations were held between Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers Jeyhun Bayramov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Abdullahian.
According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, "the parties expressed mutual respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two countries."
“During the conversation, a detailed discussion of issues that caused discontent and misunderstanding between the two countries took place. The importance of continuing negotiations to eliminate these misunderstandings was noted.
An agreement was reached to continue work on the implementation of bilateral projects.
Jeyhun Bayramov stressed the importance of respect for the independent foreign policy of Azerbaijan and its relations with the countries of the region.
The ministers also stressed the importance of supporting mutual contacts,” - the Azerbaijani side said in a statement.
In turn, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reports that the ministers had two conversations on Friday night and on Saturday.
“In a conversation with an Azerbaijani counterpart, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the conspiracy of the Zionist regime against the unity, security and progress of the countries of the region,” it was reported.
Abdullahian and Bayramov discussed in detail developments in bilateral relations and some regional issues.
“In the course of frank negotiations, the existing problems and misunderstandings and ways to overcome the current situation were discussed, and an exchange of views took place, during which the parties emphasized mutual respect for good neighborliness and each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
