European Film Festival Kicks Off with Screening of Oscar-winning Film
Baku / 02.10.19 / Turan: The 10th annual Festival of European Films kicked off in Baku. The festival is organized by the EU Delegation in Azerbaijan. From October 2 to 16, Azerbaijani viewers will be able to see 15 films from 14 EU countries and Azerbaijan.
The spectators will be presented the work of directors from EU countries such as Croatia, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.
The Festival films are screened at Park Cinema. The admission is free. Within the framework of the festival, meetings will also be organized with the directors of several films.
The festival began with a demonstration of the film Son of Saul. The events in the film of the Hungarian director Laszlo Nemesh take place in the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1944. A member of the Sonderkommando of this camp recognizes his son in one of the people strangled with gas. His goal is to protect the body of his son from burning and bury him in accordance with all the rules.
In 2016, the film won an Oscar in the nomination The Best Foreign Film. In addition, the work of the Hungarian director received the Cannes Film Festival award, Palm Branch, and many other film awards.
The film for display at the festival was presented with subtitles in the Azerbaijani language. -71C-
