"Polish Cinema in Azerbaijan" Festival Creates Cultural Bridge through Film

Baku/14.10.23/Turan:  Baku  played host to the highly successful "Polish Cinema in Azerbaijan" film festival, a four-day cinematic extravaganza that immersed audiences in the captivating world of Polish cinema.

One remarkable aspect of this festival was its commitment to cross-cultural accessibility. All the films showcased during the event were originally shot in Polish but were thoughtfully equipped with Azerbaijani subtitles. This thoughtful inclusion ensured that the cinematic gems of Poland would be accessible to a broader and more diverse audience. Furthermore, the festival made itself even more enticing by offering free admission to all attendees, elevating it as a truly inclusive cultural celebration.

The festival's program left a lasting impression on cinephiles by featuring a quartet of contemporary Polish films: "Pure Gold," "Bread and Salt," "Philip," and "Supernova." These cinematic masterpieces provided a rich spectrum of emotions and storytelling, ranging from poignant dramas to heart-pounding narratives guaranteed to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

The prestige of this cinematic spectacle was given by respected representatives of the Association of Polish Cinematographers (SFP), including the president of SFP and the famous Polish film director and screenwriter Jacek Bromski, who emphasized the potential for future cooperation in the field of cinematography, providing for a joint film project between the two countries.

This idea was developed by the adviser to the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Orhan Fikret oglu, imagining a future in which the joint productions of the two countries will flourish, and numerous stakeholders, including production companies, will be able to contribute to their success. He confirmed his confidence that professionals from both countries will easily find common ground for cooperation.
