Ilham Aliyev received head of Northern Cyprus
Baku/14.10.23/Turan: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the head of the partially recognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on 14 October.
According to the head of state's website, during the meeting the sides discussed expansion of historical ties between the Turkic peoples, cooperation in humanitarian, cultural, educational and sports spheres.
In this regard, Aliyev noted that the Organisation of Turkic States is an effective platform for cooperation.
The President of Azerbaijan added that he will remain committed to the idea of unity of the Turkic world.
In the course of the meeting, the sides also discussed the activities of the TRNC in the Organisation of Turkic States as an observer, which is "quite logical" given its similar status in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
For his part, Tatar congratulated Aliyev on the full restoration of sovereignty over entire territory.He also expressed satisfaction with holding "Days of Culture of the TRNC" in Baku.
Add that cooperation in tourism, science, education and student exchange were discussed during the meeting. -06В-
