Queen of Spain Gave Azerbaijan Miniatures of Gazelles by Mehseti Ganjavi
Miniatures and illustrations to the Rubaiyat, along with gazelles by the medieval Azerbaijani poetess Mehseti Ganjavi, were donated to the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS).
As Turan was told at the Ganja branch of ANAS, these miniatures from the XIV-XV centuries were brought to Azerbaijan on the eve of the 900th anniversary of the poetess. Eight miniatures and one illustration were presented by Queen Sofia of Spain.
However, this is not the only act of goodwill. The Academy received approximately 110 exhibits for further exhibitions.
According to the Deputy Director of the Scientific Department of the Ganja Branch of ANAS Samir Pishnamazzadeh, at different times the Mehseti Khanum Foundation received numerous manuscripts from the Library of Alexandria (Egypt), the Metropolitan Museum, and Yale University (USA).
The latest ones are 6 monographs by Paul Smith, on the life and work of the great poetess of the 12th century. Currently they are working on the translation of the scientific work. - 17D-
