Rally in memory of Elmar Huseynov
Human Rights Campaign Art for Democracy holds regular actions, to perpetuate the memory of the journalist Elmar Huseynov, who was murdered on March 2, 2003 at the door of his apartment.
A song "Stranger" was dedicated to his birthday which is celebrated on July 17. The song was performed by the rock group "Tengri", and was placed on YouTube.
Huseynov was a chief editor of the magazine "Monitor" and strongly criticized the Azerbaijani authorities for corruption and human rights violations.
The identity of the audacious and brazen murderer of the journalist has not yet been disclosed.
Law enforcement agencies are accusing Georgian citizens Teimuraz Aliyev and Tahir Khubanov, but the authorities of the neighboring country have stated that no evidence against these persons has been provided. The investigation does not say anything about the motive for the crime or those who ordered the crime. -16D-
