Lawyer complains about arbitrariness and pressure

On Tuesday, the lawyer Aila Musayeva held a press conference at the Media Centre to complain about pressure put on her in the Barda region.

The reason for the pressure is her protection of one of the participants of a road accident. She said the policeman, Samir Jabiyev, drove into the car of her client, Vusal Ahmadov, in the centre of the Barda.

Vusal Ahmadov lost control of his car, hitting a pedestrian and another car. One person died in the accident.

Vusal Ahmadov has also suffered and has had to undergo treatment, but the policeman claims that it was not his fault.

Aila Musayeva insisted on holding court hearings on June 23 and 26 behind closed doors. However, a group of women came to the court and demanded punishment of the lawyer for defending the rights of Vusal Ahmadov.

“Only the Prosecutor, myself and the police knew that the hearings would be behind closed doors. These people have been instructed by somebody. I do not know these women and they do not know me,” the lawyer said.

This is a result of arbitrariness, said the lawyer. The case should be transferred to another region for objective consideration.
