Bahtiyar Hajiyev is going to renounce citizenship. Will he leave the country?

Baku/24.08.22/Turan: Public figure Bahtiyar Hajiyev applied to the presidential administration with a statement to renounce  the Azerbaijani citizenship, and explained this step as a threat to his life.

The activist noted that over the past year he had repeatedly been subjected to physical pressure, threats, abductions and interference with his privacy, while, despite his complaints, law enforcement agencies did not take any measures.

He noted that he has no debts to the state, individuals and legal entities; so,  there  is not any  ground  not to  terminate citizenship.

Hajiyev said that the day before, he was detained and taken to the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (MDCOC) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he was subjected to physical pressure. He was forced to remove from his Facebook page critical posts about Interior Minister and pro-government activist Fuad Muradov. Finally, he was threatened with harsher punishment if he continued to criticize the police.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has not commented on Hajiyev's statement yet.

Public figure Bahtiyar Hajiyev talks about this in the "Difficult Question" program.

According to him, over the 15-20 years of his residence in Azerbaijan, he has repeatedly been subjected to pressure from various structures, but over the past two years, pressure has been continuously exerted by various structures, from various directions. “In order to get rid of this pressure, I turned to law enforcement agencies. Unfortunately, instead of detaining criminals, instead of putting an end to the persecution, guided by the laws of the mafia, they persecute me,” Hajiyev said. In support of his words, he cited the last episode as an example.

“They could invite me to the MDCOC and I would come there to answer any questions. But instead, in the daytime, when I was on my way to the office, some  plainclothes people attacked me. Of course, I could not know whether these people were criminals or policemen. Besides, in April I was already abducted by people in balaclavas. Then (during the abduction) I thought that they were law enforcement officers and that they were going to escort me to some police station. But it turned out quite differently. These people brought me to some wasteland and began to scold me using profanity. Therefore, when plainclothes people  attacked me, I resisted them. If I had not tried to escape from them and had not addressed the public on live television, then most likely I would have been kidnapped, just like last time,” the activist explained.

Hajiyev claims that the plainclothes people who brought him to the  MDCOC  beat him on the way.

“Why do they have to grab me on the street to deliver me, and the law enforcement agencies, and even beat me? Moreover, I did not commit any administrative violations, not to mention crimes,” Hajiyev said indignantly.

Hajiyev asked this question  the  head of MDCOC, Abulfat Rzayev, who replied that “the police are a power structure, they show their strength, make it clear that at any time  they can deliver us in any way they want,  and can treat us even tougher. Don't write bad things about us, and  delete what you have already written, etc.”

According to  Hajiyev, after that they gave Hajiyev a  phone and forced to delete all postings concerning the police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.--0--
