Nakhchivan agenda: Property of Vasif Talibov, events in Bananyar, protests...
Baku/06.01.23/Turan: The events taking place in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic are still relevant in the media agenda. The day before, dozens of merchants renting retail space in the "Jahan" Shopping Center held a protest in front of the building of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan. They complained about the arbitrariness and dominance of the clan of Vasif Talibov, who is the owner of "Jahan".
The «Gemigaya Holding" belonging to Vasif Talibov, the former head of the Ali Mejlis, was renamed, and from now on, it will function under the “Arkoz” trademark. The holding confirmed this fact. It is told that “Gemigaya Holding” was seized from Vasif Talibov. At present the holding is re-registering documents and today a new head of the holding will be appointed in Baku.
Meanwhile, according to media reports, an investigation into the role of Vasif Talibov in the "Benanyar events" that stirred up the country may be launched. Fourteen years have passed since 2009 the events in the village of Benanyar, Julfa region; then two people died which two people died.
Yashar Bagirsoy, chairperson of the Nakhchivan organization of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, talks about all this in the “Difficult Question” program.
According to him, a few years ago, the cost of renting a retail space (30 m2 premises) in the “Jahan” shopping center was 170 manats per month. Gradually the fee grew and now the cost of rent is 300 manats. According to the merchants, the rent increase was illegal.
“Representatives of the merchants were received by Presidential Plenipotentiary Fuad Najafli. He listened to the complaints of the merchants and promised to clarify the issue,” he said.
According to Bagyrsoy, the silence of the people of Nakhchivan has ended, because after the dismissal of Vasif Talibov from office, they have hope for change.
“I think that the protests of citizens in Nakhchivan will continue in one form or another. Because so many problems have accumulated in 30 years that people can no longer endure it. They will seek to fulfill their demands,” he said.
According to the activist, unthinkable immoral deeds have been committed in Nakhchivan over the years.
“For example, by imprisoning the head of the family in a psycho-neurological dispensary, isolating his family from him, they abused the family members,” Bagyrsoy claims.
